The UIUC Theatre Department themed the 2015-2016 season "Censorship". This literary play choice was an easy one thinking about the theme of Censorship. Because this world was an undetermined future/past time period, it gave me a chance to not be bogged down by accuracy to time period, but it challenged me by requiring that almost every prop be built in some way. From the iconic Rat Cage, Winston's cuffs, the water barrel, three electrocuting wires to attach to the cuffs, restraints, diaries, a waterproof readable diary, and definitely the four 6'6" tall speakers that hung in the house, it was a challenge to maintain a cohesive design and acheive the special actions needed for the show.
